For much of the 2024 season, Jayden Reed often found himself battling double coverage — the lone explosive threat in an inconsistent Packers offense.
Now, that’s about to change.
Following the 2025 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers have added two dynamic wide receivers: Matthew Golden and Savion Williams.
And if early reactions are any indication, this could be the jolt their offense desperately needed.
Golden, known for his crisp route running and electric acceleration, brings immediate versatility to the slot and outside. Williams, a physical red-zone nightmare, offers the size and strength to bully defenders at the point of attack.
Together, they give Reed something he’s rarely had since arriving in Green Bay — legitimate help.
“This completely changes how defenses have to prepare for us,” one Packers insider said. “It’s no longer just about stopping Reed.”
The ripple effects could be massive:
More single coverage for Reed.
More opportunities for Jordan Love to attack downfield.
More headaches for NFC North defensive coordinators.
Of course, rookies have to prove it when the pads come on. But for the first time in a long time, there’s real hope that the Packers’ wide receiver room is turning into a legitimate strength — not a liability.
Jayden Reed just got backup.
The NFC North just got a new problem.
