Jenny Slate Breaks Silence—Sort Of—on Explosive Lively vs. Baldoni Legal Showdown

Comedian and actress Jenny Slate is making it clear that she won’t comment on the ongoing legal disputes between her former It Ends With Us co-stars Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. When asked about the controversy in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Slate emphasized her focus on promoting her own work, particularly her upcoming FX series, Dying for Sex.
“I don’t have anything to say about that,” Slate, 42, told the publication on March 20. Instead, she highlighted her dedication to her new project, stating, “I poured my heart into this work, and every minute of [Dying for Sex] was important to me. I just want to talk about that.”
Dying for Sex, a scripted adaptation of the popular 2020 podcast, marks Slate’s first role since she appeared in It Ends With Us last year. The eight-episode miniseries follows the story of Molly, a woman who explores her sexuality after being diagnosed with breast cancer. Michelle Williams stars as Molly, while Slate takes on the role of Molly’s best friend, Nikki.
Despite the unavoidable overlap in timing between her past and current projects, Slate is firm on her boundaries: “Anyone can ask anything, but my only responsibility is to speak about the work I’m there to promote. It was so important to me to get this job, so why would I spend time talking about anything but that?”
Slate previously voiced support for Lively in December 2024, when the actress accused Baldoni and his production company of sexual harassment and a hostile work environment. At the time, Slate released a statement praising Lively’s leadership and loyalty, describing her as “a trusted source of emotional support for me and so many who know and love her.”
Since then, the legal battle has only intensified. Lively and Baldoni, who also directed It Ends With Us, are set to face off in court in March 2026. In the meantime, Slate is keeping her attention on her own career. Dying for Sex is set to premiere next month on FX.
