Kelly Clarkson has always been a powerhouse on stage, but these days, fans might notice that the Grammy-winning singer is spending less time on tour and more time in front of a camera. In a candid revelation, Clarkson explained why her touring schedule has taken a back seat—and it all comes down to a packed schedule filled with talk show duties and parenting.
Since 2019, Clarkson has been the host of The Kelly Clarkson Show, a popular daytime talk show where she interviews celebrities, performs fan-favorite songs, and shares candid moments from her own life. While the show has been a massive success—earning her multiple Daytime Emmy Awards—it has also become a full-time commitment. “We haven’t done a show in a while, y’all, because I have a talk show. It’s like a whole other job,” Clarkson told fans during a recent performance in Atlantic City.
For the singer, balancing her responsibilities has become a daily challenge. “I’m running from my show to baseball practice,” she shared, referring to her role as a mom to two children, River (10) and Remington (9), whom she shares with her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock. “I’m trying to be just there,” she added, highlighting how much she values being present in her kids’ lives.
Clarkson has never shied away from discussing the struggles of single motherhood. With her talk show’s demanding filming schedule and her commitment to raising two young children, finding time to rehearse, travel, and perform concerts has become a logistical puzzle. “We love doing shows, but it’s hard to fit it in,” she admitted. “It’s cool when it does work out with the schedule, but it’s rare.”
Despite the challenges, Clarkson’s love for performing hasn’t faded. During her rare concerts, like the one in Atlantic City, she still dazzles audiences with her powerful vocals and unfiltered charisma. But for now, her priority is maintaining a stable life for her children while continuing to thrive in her television career.
In addition to her talk show, Clarkson is set to return to The Voice for its upcoming season finale, where she will reunite with Blake Shelton and other fan-favorite coaches. This appearance marks one of the few chances fans have to see her back in her element as a music mentor.
Her focus on her talk show and family doesn’t mean she has given up on music. In fact, Clarkson has continued to release new music, including her emotionally charged album Chemistry, which explores themes of love, heartbreak, and self-discovery. But instead of packing her calendar with a nationwide tour, she has chosen to prioritize quality time with her kids and meaningful appearances.
“I love performing, I love music—that will never change,” she explained. “But right now, I’m in a season of my life where I have to choose what matters most, and for me, that’s being there for my kids and bringing joy to people through my show.”
Clarkson’s candid honesty has resonated with fans who admire her ability to juggle career success and motherhood. While she may not be on the road as often, her presence is still felt—whether through her heartfelt interviews, her powerful performances, or her role as a devoted mom.
