Goedert on the Trade Block Again – Why the Eagles May Still Pull the Trigger?

Dallas Goedert has been a key piece of the Philadelphia Eagles’ offense for years—but with just one season left on his four-year, $57 million contract, questions are swirling about his future in Philly. While the Eagles didn’t move him during the 2025 NFL Draft, insiders believe that Goedert could still be dealt before the season kicks off.
The Eagles have over $22 million in cap space, but with big extensions looming and a roster stacked with rising stars, every dollar counts. Trading Goedert would provide valuable cap relief and perhaps return a mid-round draft pick or a solid depth player. It’s not that Goedert isn’t productive—he absolutely is—but the NFL is a business, and Philadelphia may be looking to stay flexible for future moves.
One key factor fueling the speculation is that the Eagles didn’t draft a tight end. On the surface, that might suggest confidence in Goedert. But it could also indicate that Philadelphia wants to showcase him for one final year—or preserve his value before pulling the trigger on a trade during training camp or preseason. Teams that suffer injuries or lack reliable pass-catching tight ends may come calling.
Right now, the free agent tight end market is thin. Gerald Everett, C.J. Uzomah, and Jordan Akins are the top remaining options—but none offer what Goedert brings in terms of athleticism, route running, and experience. That scarcity boosts his trade value, especially if other teams get desperate in the coming months.
For now, the Eagles may ride into the season with Goedert as their TE1. But make no mistake—Howie Roseman is always thinking one step ahead. If the right offer comes along, especially from a contender with a need at tight end, Philadelphia may not hesitate to make a move.
Goedert’s future in midnight green is far from guaranteed.
