The Story Behind the Fundraiser That Moved Jason Kelce to Send a Personal Message

When Colton Britton was born in 2014, his parents knew their world would never be the same. Diagnosed with nonverbal autism, Colton couldn’t speak a single word—but his eyes, smile, and laughter spoke volumes. He found joy in simple things like watching Thomas the Tank Engine and scrolling through his mom’s phone to play his favorite videos. Though he couldn’t say “I love you,” he showed it every day.

Tragically, Colton passed away in July 2020, just five years old. In the depths of their grief, his parents, Chris and Michelle Britton, chose a remarkable path: they created Colt’s Crew, a fundraiser and awareness movement in Colton’s memory. Their mission was clear—to give a voice to the autism community and raise funds through the Eagles Autism Challenge.

Since 2021, Colt’s Crew has raised over $100,000. But their story isn’t just about numbers—it’s about the hearts they’ve touched, including that of Eagles legend Jason Kelce.

Deeply moved by the Brittons’ strength and Colton’s legacy, Jason Kelce sent a personal letter to Colton’s older brothers, Chase and Carson. In it, he wrote:

“Chase and Carson, I want you both to know how proud your little brother would be of you. What you’re doing in his name is bigger than football. It’s about love, resilience, and making the world a better place. I’m honored to be a part of the Eagles family with people like you.”

The letter arrived just before the 2023 Eagles Autism Challenge and served as a powerful emotional boost for the entire Britton family. “We cried when we read it,” Michelle admitted. “It felt like Colton’s story was truly being seen.”

What began as a grieving family’s tribute has grown into a movement inspiring thousands. At each Eagles Autism Challenge, Colt’s Crew arrives in full force—wearing matching shirts, carrying Colton’s spirit, and reminding the world that even a child who never spoke can still be heard.

In a world filled with noise, Colton’s silence echoed louder than words ever could—and it reached even the heart of a Philadelphia legend.
