‘Completely Exhausted’: Why Kelly Clarkson May Be Walking Away from Her Emmy-Winning Show

Kelly Clarkson, the powerhouse vocalist and beloved host of The Kelly Clarkson Show, is reportedly contemplating a significant career shift. According to sources, the 43-year-old star is considering stepping away from her daytime talk show when her contract expires next year, aiming to prioritize her family and personal well-being.

Since its debut in 2019, The Kelly Clarkson Show has garnered critical acclaim, securing 22 Daytime Emmy Awards and averaging 1.2 million viewers daily. Despite its success, the demanding nature of hosting a daily talk show, coupled with her responsibilities as a single mother to River Rose, 10, and Remington, 8, has taken a toll. An insider revealed, “Kelly’s number one priority is her children, and they always will be. The show is grueling. It’s a whole lot of work, and I hear that Kelly would like to spend more time down South.” 

Clarkson’s recent two-week absence from the show in March, attributed to a “personal matter,” further fueled speculation about her future. Upon her return, she emotionally addressed the audience during the show’s 1,000th episode, stating, “I’ve lost, alone, a lot,” highlighting the personal challenges she’s faced, including her 2020 divorce from Brandon Blackstock. 

In addition to her talk show commitments, Clarkson is preparing for a Las Vegas residency set to begin in July 2025, spanning 18 shows through November. Balancing these professional endeavors with her desire to be present for her children has proven challenging.

NBC executives are reportedly eager to retain Clarkson, recognizing her value to the network. However, the show’s high production costs and Clarkson’s potential departure have prompted discussions about possible successors. Names like Hoda Kotb, Wanda Sykes, Willie Geist, and Maria Shriver have surfaced as potential replacements.
